How did it get to be June already? It seems like just a little while ago, I was celebrating the arrival of 2010 and now it is almost half over! Summer is officially here and I am well into my second year of living in San Francisco. There are some days when it still all feels like a dream!

I love living in here. I love the people, the weather, the ocean, the plants, the coffee, it’s all good! I reduced my storage of stuff by over 50% last month and my goal is to clear out the remainder before summer is over. I find fewer and fewer reasons to keep things, and more and more freedom in letting go. When I look back over the past several years, I am amazed by how far this journey has taken me – not just geographically (more that halfway across the country), but also mentally and emotionally.

I once heard how it takes almost as many years to recover from a powerful relationship, as the duration of the relationship from start to finish. When I look back on my relationship with my former employer, I realize that at least for me, this is true. When I started that job, I really thought it would be my “last job”; that I would finish out my career with that one company. When after 11 years, I left because I realized it wasn’t the right thing for me, I was in many ways devastated by that realization. And now 11 years later, here I am finally forging a new life for myself doing something else. Along the way, this journey has seemed both incredibly short and at the same time never ending. But for this moment, I am just glad to be here… and now… and alive. What are you glad for today? Enjoy!
